Lamborghini prioritizes hybrid technology over manual transmissions
Lamborghini is prioritizing hybrid technology and emotional driving experiences over the reintroduction of manual transmissions. Paolo Racchetti, the Temerario product line director, stated that while customers may request manual gearboxes, the company remains focused on its 'Direzione Cor Tauri' strategy, which aims to electrify its product range and decarbonize operations.
The automaker's roadmap includes plug-in hybrid models such as the Revuelto and Temerario, as well as the transition of the Urus SUV to hybrid power. Lamborghini aims to reduce enterprise emissions per car by 40 percent by 2030.
According to Racchetti, speed alone is no longer the sole defining characteristic of a supercar, as many electric vehicles can now achieve high acceleration. Instead, Lamborghini is focusing on dynamic capabilities and emotion. The new Temerario utilizes a hybrid architecture combining a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with three electric motors to provide both high-revving mechanical character and enhanced drivability.
