Germany: Lamborghini Revuelto crash on A555 near Bornheim kills driver
On the night of 9 July 2026, a 32‑year‑old driver lost his life and a 33‑year‑old passenger was seriously injured when a Lamborghini Revuelto, valued at around €500,000, left the A555 motorway between Bornheim and Wesseling, broke through the right‑hand guardrail and collided with a tree. The impact tore the car into pieces, ignited a fire and scattered debris across the roadway.
Emergency services extinguished the blaze, rescued the occupants and transported the passenger to the University Hospital in Bonn for surgery. The driver died at the scene despite resuscitation attempts. The accident caused the A555 to be closed for several hours, with traffic diverted via the L192. Police opened an investigation, citing excessive speed as a likely factor and probing a possible illegal street‑racing scenario. Witnesses have been asked to come forward. During the resulting traffic jam, an unrelated medical emergency also required ambulance assistance.
The incident prompted a brief disturbance at the hospital, leading police to detain two individuals. The investigation remains ongoing.
