Lecce player Lameck Banda transfer rejected by FIGC

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has formally rejected a transfer request from the Libyan club Al-Swehly SC for Zambian winger Lameck Banda. The Libyan club attempted to register Banda as a free agent, but the FIGC ruled that the player remains under contract with the Italian club Lecce until June 30, 2027.

The dispute arose after Banda failed to report for Lecce’s pre-season training camp. While Lecce exercised a contract extension clause to secure the player through 2027, Banda reportedly considers himself a free agent, potentially seeking a lucrative two-year deal with Al-Swehly SC valued at approximately 1.3 million euros per season.

Lecce has escalated the matter to international governing bodies, including FIFA, CAF, and CONI, to protect its contractual rights. While the FIGC decision blocks the transfer through Italian federal channels, the legal battle may continue through international sports arbitration.
