Lameck Banda US Lecce passport issue Al‑Fateh transfer disciplinary action

Zambian winger Lameck Banda has not rejoined US Lecce for its pre‑season camp in Austria because of ongoing passport and other bureaucratic difficulties, which the club said have prevented his return to Italy. Lecce issued an official statement warning that it will conduct a thorough investigation and may take disciplinary measures if the situation is not resolved, noting that his contract runs until 30 June 2027.

At the same time, Saudi Professional League side Al‑Fateh is reported to have tabled a €2.5 million offer for the player. Lecce considered the proposal inadequate and has not moved forward with a transfer.

The dispute highlights both the administrative hurdles facing foreign players in Italy and the interest from clubs in the Saudi league in acquiring talent from Serie A.
