LaMelo Ball traded to Minnesota Timberwolves in blockbuster deal

The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired point guard LaMelo Ball and swingman Josh Green from the Charlotte Hornets in a trade that sent forward Naz Reid and a sizable package of draft picks to Charlotte. Timberwolves head of basketball operations Tim Connelly said Ball is a “lead guard” who can elevate the team, while coach Chris Finch described the move as an opportunity to build an offense around Ball and Anthony Edwards. The trade follows months of speculation and marks Ball’s first season with the Wolves.

In Charlotte, the Hornets are turning attention to forward Brandon Miller as the potential new face of the franchise. Hornets VP of basketball operations Jeff Peterson indicated the team wants to retain Miller, who is averaging 19 points, five rebounds and three assists, and has posted career‑high shooting percentages this season. The organization hopes Miller can step into a larger role now that Ball has departed.
