NBA point guard LaMelo Ball was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Minnesota Timberwolves in late June 2026. The complaint alleges that the defendants, who have rented two upscale condominium units in uptown Charlotte since December 2020, fell behind on rent and homeowners‑association fees. As of July 1, 2026 the suit states the unpaid rent exceeds $181,500 and that over $90,000 in HOA compliance fines remain unpaid. The filing also claims Ball sub‑leased one of the units to Jackson, contributing to the breach of contract.

A related lawsuit against Jackson alone was dismissed on June 3, 2026, but the current action names both Ball and Jackson as defendants, seeking damages for lost rental income and fees.
