Lamezia Terme Mayor removes Futuro Nazionale official from council
Mario Murone, the mayor of Lamezia Terme, has revoked the council position of Donatella Amicarelli, a representative of the Futuro Nazionale movement. Amicarelli, who was appointed in late March, held responsibilities for the environment, parks, agriculture, urban regeneration, and stray animal management.
The mayor cited an irreconcilable political rift between the current administration and Futuro Nazionale, a movement linked to Roberto Vannacci. According to a formal decree, the mayor determined that the group's positions and program were incompatible with the values of the center-right coalition, specifically regarding civil rights, the protection of women, and the treatment of immigrants and Rom communities.
Following the revocation, Mayor Murone will temporarily manage the responsibilities previously held by Amicarelli until a new appointment is made. Local political figures have reacted to the decision, with some noting that the move clarifies the administration's alignment with traditional center-right principles and distances the local government from the more provocative stances associated with the Vannacci movement.
