Lamezia Terme promotes alliance between healthcare, art, and welfare

The City of Lamezia Terme hosted an institutional meeting titled “La cultura che cura” (Culture that Heals) at the San Domenico Monumental Complex. The initiative aims to create synergy between local and regional institutions, the healthcare sector, cultural institutes, and the third sector.

The meeting focused on adopting cultural welfare and social prescribing as integrative tools for community health and well-being. These approaches align with World Health Organization (WHO) orientations and European CultureForHealth project guidelines, which recognize the value of artistic and cultural practices in prevention and care.

Regional officials and the Director General of the ASP of Catanzaro expressed support for the project. Discussions highlighted the importance of treating the person rather than just the disease, citing successful experiences with music therapy and cinema in oncological wards.
