Lamia school vandalized and broken into

The 4th Experimental General Lyceum of Lamia was targeted by burglars and vandals in the Amfitheas area. The break-in was discovered by teachers on the morning of Monday, August 17, following the school's summer recess.

Unknown perpetrators breached a door, which they defaced with slogans, and entered the building. In the basement, they poured maintenance paint onto the floor, an act estimated to have occurred between Friday night and Saturday due to the paint's solidification. Other damages included a removed paper towel dispenser, a cut air conditioning pipe in the cafeteria, and windows and lights left open upon their departure. The vandals also moved a courtyard bench to a ledge between the ground and first floors, possibly attempting to reach the teachers' offices.

School Director Kiki Iliopoulou and her staff have issued an urgent plea for better protection of school facilities. While acknowledging the difficulty of providing 24-hour security guards for all units, they are calling for the installation of security cameras that can operate outside of regular school hours.
