Lamia: Two minors remanded in custody for theft spree
Two minors have been remanded in custody following a series of thefts and robberies in Lamia, Greece. The suspects, a 16-year-old who had previously escaped from the Volos Juvenile Reformatory Institution and a 17-year-old of Albanian descent, were arrested at an apartment where they were residing.
Authorities identified the group as being responsible for multiple crimes between September 8 and September 17, 2026. Their targets included a nursery school, where they stole the director's bag containing personal documents and cash, and a central square cafe, where they stole a cash box. The group is also accused of theft of motorcycles and using stolen bank cards for contactless transactions.
A third member of the gang, a 15-year-old, remains at large and is the subject of an arrest warrant. Due to the frequency and methodology of their crimes, judicial authorities decided to place the two arrested minors in a correctional facility with a specialized wing for young inmates rather than a standard juvenile reformatory. Legal proceedings have also been initiated against the parents of the minors for neglect of supervision.
