Ballon d'Or 2026 voting concludes with Yamal and Kane as favorites

Voting for the 2026 Ballon d'Or has officially concluded. A jury of 100 journalists from the top 100 FIFA-ranked nations submitted their preferences, selecting 10 players each based on individual performance, decisive impact, team achievements, and sportsmanship.

The race for the prestigious award is described as one of the most competitive in recent years, with no clear frontrunner. Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane are cited as the primary favorites. Yamal's candidacy is bolstered by his success with Barcelona and the Spanish national team, while Kane is recognized for his prolific scoring season with Bayern Munich. Kylian Mbappé also remains a significant contender despite lacking major team trophies in the recent period.

The winner will be announced during a gala ceremony held at the London Palladium on October 26, 2026. This marks the first time the event will take place in London. In addition to the men's Ballon d'Or, the ceremony will present the women's Ballon d'Or, the Kopa Trophy for best young player, the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper, and the Johan Cruyff Trophy for best coach.
