Lamine Yamal reflects on Messi tribute and receives praise from coach

Lamine Yamal has shared details regarding his emotional interaction with Lionel Messi following the World Cup final, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time. In an interview with The Guardian, Yamal revealed that he embraced the veteran player to express his gratitude, stating, “Thank you for everything you have given to football.” Yamal noted that the gesture was a sincere expression of respect for the player he has admired since childhood, while emphasizing his desire to forge his own legacy rather than being labeled “the new Messi.”

Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente has also praised Yamal, describing him as a generous player who utilizes his talent and intelligence for the benefit of the team. De la Fuente highlighted the high caliber of Spanish football, suggesting that players like Yamal, Rodri, and Fabian should receive greater international recognition, specifically regarding Ballon d'Or considerations. The coach also noted that despite the team's significant unbeaten streak, the squad has yet to reach its full potential.
