Burglary foiled at Lamine Yamal's Barcelona home after Spain semifinal
Masked intruders attempted to break into the Barcelona residence of 19‑year‑old Spain winger Lamine Yamal in the early hours of Wednesday. Private security staff, monitoring CCTV, spotted the burglars climbing the perimeter wall and intervened, forcing the suspects to flee without gaining entry or stealing valuables.
The attempted burglary occurred just hours after Spain defeated France 2‑0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal, a match in which Yamal supplied the penalty that opened the scoring. The luxury property, previously owned by former Barcelona star Gerard Piqué and singer Shakira, is located in the city’s upscale district. Spanish police have opened an investigation and are reviewing footage to identify the perpetrators.
