Lamine Yamar pays tribute to Ronaldo and Neymar after their World Cup exits

Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamar, 18, praised Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar following the veterans' final appearances at the FIFA World Cup. Ronaldo’s Portugal were eliminated by Spain in the last‑16 with a 1‑0 win, marking what is expected to be his last World Cup match. Neymar’s Brazil also exited in the last‑16 after a late consolation goal in a loss to Norway, ending his tournament.

Yamar told reporters that both players have been “key figures for my generation since we were kids” and wished them well. He described Ronaldo’s presence as “aura” – “in football, Cristiano Ronaldo,” echoing his admiration for the Portuguese legend alongside the Brazilian star.

The comments highlight the respect younger players have for the retiring icons as they conclude their international careers.
