Lampedusa police facing housing shortage for new station

The Mp police union has expressed serious concern regarding the upcoming establishment of the Linosa–Lampedusa Public Security Commissioner's office. While personnel have been assigned to the new station, the union reports a critical lack of suitable housing for the incoming officers.

Approximately 47 personnel, including 35 agents and assistants, 11 inspectors, and two officials, are scheduled to report to the Agrigento Police Headquarters by September 14. The union highlighted that finding accommodation on Lampedusa is exceptionally difficult, especially given the island's record-high population during the summer months. An urgent note has been sent to the Department of Public Security to address this logistical deficiency before the office opens.
