Lampovos fair begins in Paramythia, Epirus
The Lampovos fair, the largest and oldest traditional market in Epirus, has commenced in Paramythia. Historically serving as a major commercial hub for trading livestock and goods, the event has evolved into a significant social institution that draws thousands of visitors annually.
While the fair once focused primarily on commerce, it is now regarded as a vital social gathering for communication and relaxation. The event features numerous vendor stalls offering local products, alongside traditional food stalls and entertainment.
Thanasis Dani, the Mayor of Souli, officially inaugurated the event, emphasizing the fair's importance to the region and the municipality's goal to establish it as a primary landmark for all of Epirus. The tradition is believed to have roots dating back centuries, with some accounts linking its origins to the 6th century.
