Lampung authorities focus on food security and agricultural productivity
Authorities in Lampung are implementing measures to stabilize food security and strengthen agricultural production. Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal is focusing on balancing the welfare of farmers with affordable food prices for consumers. A key concern raised by Bank Indonesia's Lampung representative, Bimo Epyanto, is the outflow of local grain to other regions, where it is processed and sold at higher prices, potentially impacting local rice supplies.
In a separate effort to bolster national food resilience, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman visited the Sugar Group Companies (SGC) plantation in Tulang Bawang. The Minister emphasized the need to increase sugarcane productivity to reduce reliance on white sugar imports. He highlighted the importance of optimizing land and supporting smallholder sugarcane farmers to ensure domestic supply meets national demand.
