Banten Regional Police (Polda Banten) have confirmed that a body discovered in the waters of Pekon Balam, Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, is not related to the disappearance of the KM Arupadatu I, which was carrying a group of journalists in the Sunda Strait.

Following medical examinations and identification procedures, the deceased was identified as Rangga Adriana, a 17-year-old male resident of Pekon Hanakau, Sukau District, West Lampung. The body was first spotted by a local fisherman on Friday, September 25, 2026, before being recovered by a joint SAR team and taken to the Pugung Health Center.

The victim's family has declined an autopsy and requested the body be returned for burial. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculating on connections to the KM Arupadatu I incident until official verification is provided.
