Lampung health officials prioritize TBC detection and cancer screening
The Lampung Provincial Government is intensifying its focus on public health priorities, including tuberculosis (TBC) management, cancer detection, and health insurance optimization.
Dr. Djohan Lius has been officially appointed as the Head of the Lampung Provincial Health Office. His primary mandates include improving access to the BPJS Kesehatan health insurance system and addressing low tuberculosis detection rates, which currently stand at 42%. Regional officials emphasized that his role requires moving beyond administrative duties to ensure equitable healthcare access and stronger synergy with insurance providers.
In a separate health initiative, Vice Governor Jihan Nurlela highlighted the importance of early cancer detection during a social service event organized by the Indonesian Association of Surgical Oncologists (PERABOI). The government is advocating for strengthened primary healthcare services through the Integrated Primary Service (ILP) scheme and the optimization of adult Posyandu centers. Efforts are also being directed toward improving medical infrastructure, such as increasing the availability of ultrasound equipment in community health centers (puskesmas), to support early disease screening.
