Lancaster homicide probe launched after discovery of human remains

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of human remains in a remote area of Lancaster, California. On Tuesday, deputies located the remains of two people on a debris-strewn property near 50th Street East and Avenue F in the Mojave Desert.

Investigators utilized aerial footage, cadaver dogs, and excavation efforts near an old greenhouse to process the scene. Officials have withheld the identities of the deceased and the specific circumstances of their deaths to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and pending notification of next of kin.

The discovery occurred near the location where 61-year-old Ricky Allen Phillips was reported missing two weeks prior. While the proximity and timing have drawn public speculation, authorities have not indicated whether Phillips is connected to the recovered remains.
