Lance Bass reveals low earnings during *NSYNC fame
Lance Bass has revealed details regarding the meager financial compensation he and his *NSYNC bandmates received during the group’s peak popularity. Speaking on ‘The Zach Sang Show’ and ‘Cocktail Wars’, Bass stated that the members survived on a daily per diem of just $35 during their early years, including their time working in Europe.
Bass claimed that after years of delivering number-one albums and selling out tours, the group received a single check for $10,000. He noted that while merchandise sales were massive, the profits did not reach the performers. He attributed the financial disparity to the record label and the group’s late manager, Lou Pearlman, alleging that they made significant profits while the artists were told to be grateful for their small payments.
Pearlman, who managed *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, was later convicted of money laundering and conspiracy, eventually dying in prison in 2016. Bass clarified that despite the public perception of the group being wealthy, he and his bandmates—including Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick—did not earn substantial wealth from the band and continue to receive limited royalties.
