Russia, China, and US prepare for potential trilateral summit

Preparations have begun for a potential trilateral summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting is expected to take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, scheduled for November 18-19.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Moscow, Beijing, and Washington are in principle ready for the meeting. While a trilateral discussion is the primary focus, the possibility of a bilateral meeting between Putin and Trump is also being discussed. The outcome of the APEC summit may also influence whether Putin attends the G20 summit in Miami this December.

Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Ushakov indicated that Russia is prepared to resume trilateral peace negotiations involving Ukraine and the US after November 4. He suggested that a technical-level meeting could potentially be held in Abu Dhabi in November to assess the feasibility of further talks. Ushakov also emphasized that Europe should be included in peace discussions, noting that the US has not yet succeeded in pressuring Kyiv to accept a peace agreement.
