Lanciano municipality terminates bridge contract with Edil 3

The Comune of Lanciano announced the termination of its construction contract with the firm Edil 3 for the refurbishment of the Torre Marino bridge. After months of unexplained delays, missing workforce, and failure to complete required works, the administration issued a formal notice on 9 July 2026 and cancelled the contract the following day. Earlier warnings included a May 16 2026 formal admonition and a June 17 2026 request for proof of material deliveries and paving plans, which the contractor failed to provide. Subsequent on‑site inspections confirmed the lack of documentation and a credible schedule. The municipality affirmed that all payments due for completed phases had been made, while subcontractors reported partial or missing payments from Edil 3. The council has launched procedures to reopen the bridge by the end of July and complete the work in August, despite the contract termination.
