Lanciano school threatened with massacre in anonymous social media posts

An anonymous threat of a school massacre has triggered a police investigation at the Liceo Scientifico Galilei in Lanciano, Abruzzo. The threat, which appeared on a social media “spotted” page and via the Tellonym service, explicitly mentioned a shooting and a specific number of victims, 67.

Investigators are looking into whether the number 67 refers to the viral “six-seven” meme associated with the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by American rapper Skrilla. The Polizia Postale is currently working to identify the author(s) behind the anonymous account.

Law enforcement officers were deployed to the school's locations during the time specified in the threat, but no incident occurred. The investigation is examining whether the post was an attempt to emulate similar recent threats made in other Italian schools.
