Local disputes arise over land use and resource rights in Peru and Spain

In Puno, Peru, residents of the Chanu Chanu urbanization have protested the Peruvian Army's installation of a perimeter fence around a public plot. Local authorities, including the Urban Development Manager, stated that the military failed to obtain the necessary municipal permits for the work. While military representatives claim the land is registered in public records, neighbors argue the area is essential for community recreation.

In Spain, legal and administrative disputes continue regarding land and resource use. In A Coruña, the group Defensa do Común has challenged luxury apartment developments at A Maestranza, alleging that excavation work involving explosives is proceeding without proper authorization and that archaeological oversight is lacking.

Additionally, a judicial case involving the Casa de Alba in Seville has been archived. A judge dismissed charges regarding illegal water extraction from wells near Doñana, citing the absence of mandatory water meters. The court ruled that without these meters, it was impossible to quantify the amount of water extracted to prove an environmental crime, despite findings by the Guardia Civil.
