Land dispute in Adana escalates over unauthorized farming

A long-standing land dispute in the Sarıçam district of Adana has escalated following reports of unauthorized farming on private property. Fadime Köseler, a shareholder of a 544-decare plot, alleges that unknown individuals have been planting and harvesting watermelons on the land without permission.

Köseler claims the land has a history of occupation, stating that Çukurova University occupied the area for years and the Metropolitan Municipality later constructed a boulevard on the site without formal expropriation. Despite winning a legal battle regarding the land's status, Köseler reports that new unidentified parties are now using the property.

The landowner has filed a complaint with authorities, alleging that when she confronted the individuals, she was met with death threats. She expressed frustration over being held responsible for property taxes on land she is unable to use or cultivate.
