Land Legend joins Cox Plate field after late entry fee

Land Legend has been confirmed as a late addition to the $6 million Cox Plate after owner Bon Ho paid a $200,000 late entry fee. The gelding, trained by Ciaron Maher, secured the spot following a Group 1 victory in the Might And Power Stakes.

During the barrier draw for the event, which will be held at Flemington due to redevelopment at Moonee Valley, Land Legend’s connections selected barrier 12. Stablemate Light Infantry Man will start from barrier 11. Other notable contenders include Aeliana, starting from barrier 10, and Sir Delius, who drew barrier 5.

Maher is expected to have three representatives in the race, including Middle Earth and Light Infantry Man. The field also features three-year-olds Warwoven and Blind Raise, with Warwoven aiming to emulate previous successful three-year-old performers.
