Land of Talk releases double single Dogs b/w Cats

Montreal-based indie-rock project Land of Talk has released a new double single titled ‘Dogs b/w Cats’. The release features two contrasting tracks, ‘Dogs’ and ‘Cats’, which serve as the second and third singles from the band’s upcoming sixth album, LASTS.

Led by Lizzie Powell, the band describes ‘Dogs’ as a track driven by a menacing groove and exploratory guitar work. While inspired by the emotional atmosphere of The Cure, the song evolved from themes of nostalgia into an expression of ‘simmering rage borne from living under the patriarchy’.

In contrast, ‘Cats’ offers a lighter, more atmospheric sound characterized by hooky basslines, keyboards, and playful percussion. Powell noted that the instrumental flourishes felt as though mischievous cats were jumping across the studio instruments. The upcoming album, LASTS, is scheduled for release on November 13 via Saddle Creek and Next Door Records.
