Land Rover Defender gets new hybrid powertrain and premium Vertex trim

Land Rover has expanded the Defender line with a plug‑in hybrid variant, the P400e. The model combines a 2.0‑liter four‑cylinder engine with an electric motor to deliver about 297 kW (404 hp) and an electric‑only range of roughly 43–50 km, while retaining permanent four‑wheel drive, high ground clearance and optional adaptive air suspension.

At the same time the brand unveiled the Defender Vertex edition, a more muscular‑styled, premium‑focused trim. Vertex adds a six‑seat (2+2+2) layout for the Defender 110, 22‑inch alloy wheels, a self‑healing UV‑activated clear film, new exterior colours such as Namib Orange, and interior upgrades including three‑zone climate control and cabin‑air purification. Mechanically, the range now includes a new 3.0‑liter inline‑six mild‑hybrid (P380 MHEV) generating 550 Nm of torque, alongside existing diesel options and a selective‑market V8.
