Land Rover Defender: Specs Release and Owner’s Australian Off‑Road Experience

A 2023 Land Rover Defender X‑Dynamic SE 110 AWD is listed for $53,988 (plus taxes and licensing). The vehicle features a 6‑cylinder gasoline engine, automatic transmission, all‑wheel drive, heated and cooled seats, air suspension, off‑road pack, tow package, and a suite of safety and driver‑assist technologies such as blind‑spot monitoring, lane‑keeping assist and a rear‑view camera. It is equipped with leather interior, wood trim and a range of comfort options including heated steering wheel, climate control and premium sound.

Andrew Chesterman, CEO of Australia’s Endeavour Foundation, bought a 2020 Defender D300SE in 2021 using in‑flight Wi‑Fi. Delivery was delayed 635 days because of Covid‑related supply‑chain shortages, and the final build omitted a head‑up display and some USB ports. The seven‑seat Defender, fitted with the black pack, air suspension, off‑road pack, heated and cooled seats and all‑terrain tyres, was finally received in June 2023. Chesterman uses it to tow a 3.5‑tonne caravan for trips across Eastern Australia, visiting remote parks such as Kakadu, Litchfield, Birdsville and the Simpson Desert. The vehicle’s capability supports the Foundation’s mission, enabling its clients, including an intellectually‑disabled adult, to travel independently and safely.
