Land Rover recalls 250,000 SUVs over driver airbag defect

Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 250,857 SUVs in the United States because a driver‑side airbag connector can develop corrosion that may prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash. The recall covers 2020‑2026 Defender, 2021‑2026 Discovery and 2022‑2026 Range Rover models.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the issue stems from a clockspring connector that can gain resistance over time. Dealers will fix the problem by applying a protective gel to the connector terminals; no parts will be replaced and the repair is provided at no cost to owners. No injuries or airbag deployment failures have been reported in the United States so far.
