Range Rover Electric unveiled as flagship EV

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has unveiled the Range Rover Electric, the first fully electric model in the flagship's history. Scheduled for a mid-2027 commercial launch, the vehicle is designed to maintain the brand's luxury and off-road identity while transitioning to an electric powertrain.

Key technical specifications include a 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and an 800V architecture, supporting DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes. The vehicle features dual permanent magnet motors delivering 550 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.5 seconds. The estimated driving range is approximately 600 km (WLTP) or 333 miles (EPA).

To preserve its heritage, the design remains largely similar to internal combustion models, with subtle aerodynamic adjustments to the grille, wheels, and underbody. The vehicle is being produced in Solihull, UK, supported by significant workforce upskilling and facility upgrades. Advanced technologies such as the ThermAssist thermal management system and Intelligent Driveline Dynamics are integrated to optimize efficiency and off-road control.
