Land Rover to launch electric Range Rover Sport by end of 2026

Land Rover has unveiled a prototype of the fully electric Range Rover Sport, marking the next step for its flagship SUV line. The model, expected to reach the market by the end of 2026, builds on the existing Range Rover Electric platform that already offers a 480‑kilometre (about 300‑mile) EPA range with a 117 kWh battery pack.

The electric version retains the classic exterior of the combustion‑engine Sport, apart from the absence of an exhaust tailpipe and a closed grille. Power output is reported between 444 hp and 542 hp (approximately 550 hp in some specifications) with torque around 850 Nm, delivered through dual motors that split power 50:50 between the front and rear axles. A 118.5 kWh battery enables fast DC charging at up to 350 kW, and the EPA‑listed range is projected at about 530 km (330 miles), with WLTP figures expected to be higher.

Chief executive Martin Limpert said the new Range Rover Sport Electric will introduce advanced torque‑optimising technology and a chassis tuned for enhanced driving dynamics while keeping the luxury feel of the model. Land Rover positions the vehicle against upcoming high‑end electric SUVs such as the BMW iX5, Porsche Cayenne Electric and Volvo EX90.
