Land Transport Authority announces upgrades to six bus interchanges
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced upgrading works for six bus interchanges in Singapore: Bishan, Bukit Batok, Bukit Merah, Eunos, Punggol, and Tampines. Scheduled to begin in 2027, these enhancements aim to improve commuter comfort, energy efficiency, and inclusivity.
Key improvements include the installation of inclusive facilities such as priority queue zones, additional seating, baby care/family washrooms, wheelchair-accessible toilets, tactile guided paths, and Braille signs on handrails. The project also involves replacing and upgrading systems like air-conditioning, ventilation, and lighting, alongside refurbishing staff facilities such as passenger service offices and lounges.
To minimize service disruptions, works will be carried out in phases. This initiative follows a previous batch of seven interchanges—Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Clementi, Sengkang, Serangoon, and Toa Payoh—which are currently undergoing upgrades and are expected to be completed by 2027.
