Land Transport Authority to trial humanoid robot at Little India MRT
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will trial a humanoid robot named Olly at the Little India MRT station on the Downtown Line from August 31 to September 11. The trial is scheduled to take place on weekdays between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.
Olly is designed to provide wayfinding assistance on the station platform and answer commuter questions regarding the rail system and LTA services. To ensure safety and operational control, the robot will be accompanied and supervised by a team of LTA officers at all times during its rounds.
The initiative aims to explore how artificial intelligence-enabled technology can support public transport operations and improve the commuter experience. The Little India station was selected for this initial use case due to its relatively simple layout and its proximity to the LTA office, where the robot will be charged daily.
