Land van Lobo launches community heritage tree project

A new regional project titled ‘Land van Lobo’ has been launched to stimulate community-led initiatives in the Dender-Mark Silence Area. The project aims to connect the municipalities of Geraardsbergen, Pajottegem, and Ninove through shared interests in biodiversity and social cohesion.

To mark the start of the initiative, a distribution of young heritage trees will take place on Sunday, October 18, at the Bronhuis in Waarbeke. Residents can collect free trees to plant in suitable locations. The project is based on the ‘commons’ concept, treating the natural beauty and tranquility of the region as a shared resource for all citizens.

A new digital platform has also been launched to help residents connect, exchange information, and make local initiatives more visible.
