Landes wildfire burns 100 hectares and disrupts rail service

A wildfire ignited in a photovoltaic park in the Landes department of southwestern France has spread to surrounding forests, consuming over 100 hectares. The fire is currently active near the communes of Lüe and Labouheyre.

Emergency responders, including 150 firefighters and six aerial units, are battling the flames. The situation is described as highly unfavorable due to the proximity of 63,000-volt high-voltage power lines, the A63 motorway, and a railway line. Consequently, SNCF has suspended train services on the section connecting Bordeaux and Dax.

Two firefighters sustained minor burns during the operation. While one residence was threatened, it was successfully protected, and officials stated that no towns or villages are currently in the direct path of the fire's propagation.
