Landesärztekammer Hessen launches new patient safety initiatives

The State Medical Association of Hesse (LÄKH) is launching new educational initiatives to mark World Patient Safety Day on September 17, 2026. Dr. Edgar Pinkowski, President of the LÄKH, emphasized that high-quality and safe patient care is a central goal of medical practice.

One key initiative is a live webinar titled ‘Geriatric Medicine – Healthcare 65+’, scheduled for September 16, 2026. This session will address topics such as medication therapy safety, polypharmacy, and innovative approaches to promoting health and independence in older populations. The webinar is organized in cooperation with the Academy for Medical Continuing Education, the Hessian Patient Safety Network, University Medicine Frankfurt, and the Hessian Hospital Association.

Additionally, the LÄKH will release a new episode of its patient safety podcast, ‘Sicher ist sicher’, focusing on the role of peer review in medicine as a collaborative method to enhance patient safety.
