Landhaus Zu den Rothen Forellen celebrates 222 years in Ilsenburg
The Landhaus Zu den Rothen Forellen in Ilsenburg is celebrating its 222nd anniversary. Located in the Harz region at the foot of the Brocken, the establishment has a history of hospitality dating back over 400 years.
Originally serving as a key inn for travelers in the 16th century, the hotel evolved from the 'Rothe Forelle' inn established in 1803. Following extensive renovations, the current five-star hotel reopened in 1995 and was recognized as the first five-star hotel in Saxony-Anhalt in 1996. Since 2010, it has been part of the Dr. Lohbeck private hotel group.
Throughout its history, the hotel has hosted numerous prominent figures, including Friedrich Schiller, Heinrich Heine, Hans Christian Andersen, Tsar Peter, and Kaiser Wilhelm. More recently, it served as a location during the filming of 'The Monuments Men' with George Clooney.
