Lando Norris faces 10‑place grid penalty at Belgian Grand Prix

Lando Norris qualified third at Spa‑Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix but will start the race from mid‑field after receiving a ten‑place grid penalty. The penalty stems from McLaren’s decision to fit a fourth power‑unit component, exceeding the season limit of three, in order to address recurring reliability problems that have caused retirements in China, Japan and Monaco. Norris called the lap “one of the best of my career” and expressed frustration that the strong qualifying result cannot be capitalised on. He said his race plan will focus on a good launch and a strong first lap, hoping to exploit Spa’s long straights for overtaking, while acknowledging that catching the leading pack will be difficult. Norris also warned that Red Bull are likely to be faster on race day but remained confident that the MCL40 can recover positions.
