Lando Norris secured victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, converting pole position into a win that marked McLaren's first triumph of the 2026 Formula 1 season. The result followed a substantial car upgrade – a redesigned floor on the MCL40 – which team principal Andrea Stella said helped the team break Mercedes' early‑season dominance.
Mercedes technical director Simone Resta described the upgrade as a sizeable update that clearly impacted performance, noting that McLaren’s pace at Budapest ended Mercedes' perfect pole‑position streak from the first six races.
