Landscape Australia Awards 2024 announce winners

Landscape Australia Awards urban rewilding biodiversity Bushy Landscapes Sydney

The Landscape Australia Awards 2024 have recognized projects that prioritize urban biodiversity and ecological resilience over pure aesthetics. The awards aim to encourage public engagement with ecology, place, and climate change.

In the small residential garden category, the ‘Big Little Bondi’ garden by Bushy Landscapes won the prize. Located in Sydney, the 35-square-metre project involved reconstructing critically endangered Eastern Suburbs banksia scrub to reflect the natural bushland of the area.

Emily Wong, University of Melbourne Jury chair and editor of Landscape Australia, noted that the winning projects demonstrate how individuals can apply urban rewilding research to drive local community change.
