Landslide destroys residence in Campo Bom, Brazil

A landslide in the Santa Lúcia neighborhood of Campo Bom, Brazil, completely destroyed a wooden residence on Alberto Mossmann Street. The collapse occurred following heavy rainfall and saturated soil. While the structure fell completely on a Friday, a portion of the property had already given way the previous day.

No injuries were reported as the occupants were staying with relatives at the time. Local reports suggest that the owners had previously notified the water utility company, Corsan, regarding leaks approximately two months ago, which may have contributed to the soil instability.

Following the incident, the destroyed structure was removed to reopen Alberto Mossmann Street to traffic. The Civil Defense has advised nearby families to vacate their homes due to ongoing risks, and municipal teams are conducting technical evaluations of the terrain to determine necessary containment and safety measures.
