Landslide in Bandar Damai Perdana triggers apartment evacuations

A landslide occurred at an apartment complex in Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras, prompting the immediate evacuation of approximately 80 residents from 45 units in Block D as a precautionary measure. The incident involved a slope approximately 4.57 metres high, with soil sliding roughly 0.91 metres into the collapse area.

Authorities, including the Public Works Department (JKR), the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKJ), and the Department of Mineral and Geoscience (JMG), are conducting a joint investigation to determine the building's safety and whether an underground water pipe leak caused the collapse. While water was observed flowing in the area during initial observations, no further soil movement has been detected by rescue teams, and no injuries or casualties have been reported.

A temporary relief center has been opened at the Desa Baiduri Community Hall for displaced residents. Water supplies to the apartment complex have been temporarily suspended, with water tankers being deployed to provide clean water to the affected community.
