Landslide in Mexico and power outages in Colombia disrupt communities

Intense rainfall in the State of Mexico caused a landslide in the community of San Pedro Tenayac, Temascaltepec, destroying homes, schools, vehicles and a key road. Authorities from state, federal and municipal levels deployed brigades to clear debris, reinforce slopes and evacuate families from the danger zone. The week also saw the municipal mayor of Tenancingo, Nancy Nápoles Pacheco, placed under investigation for alleged kidnapping‑simulation, and student protests at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico over funding and transparency issues.

In Colombia, heavy rains and gusty winds hit the departments of Córdoba, Sucre, southern Bolívar and southern Cesar, damaging electrical circuits and lines. The utility Afinia activated its emergency protocols, sending additional technical crews and logistic resources to restore service, especially in rural areas, and urged residents to report problems via its 115 hotline.
