Landslide on Vietnam's National Highway 6 Traps Car, Evacuates 84 Households

Heavy rain on the night of 5 August triggered a severe landslide on National Highway 6 near Chiêng Pấc in Sơn La province. The slide buried a car up to its doors, but the occupants escaped unharmed. Authorities deployed two excavators to clear the debris and restore traffic, reopening the road by early morning on 6 August.

The incident prompted an emergency evacuation of residents in the affected area. Initially 26 households (103 people) were moved to safety; by the following morning the total rose to 84 households, covering 395 individuals. Evacuees were housed at the local cultural centre and the military command headquarters, receiving basic supplies such as blankets, water, and food. Provincial officials, including Vice Chairman Nguyễn Thành Công, inspected the site and coordinated relief efforts.
