Landslide reported on Buga–Buenaventura highway in Colombia

A significant landslide has occurred in the Loboguerrero sector of the Buga–Buenaventura highway in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The movement of earth was reported near one of the tunnels on this strategic corridor, which connects the country's interior to the port of Buenaventura.

The road has been experiencing instability following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake on August 10. The concessionaire, Unión Vial Camino del Pacífico, has implemented a traffic management plan in the La Yolomba sector, allowing controlled passage for all vehicles between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., while reserving nighttime passage for emergency and humanitarian vehicles.

Authorities have not yet released an official report regarding the magnitude of the landslide or whether any vehicles or individuals were affected. Experts suggest that soil saturation and slope instability necessitate deep geotechnical studies and stabilization works to ensure long-term safety.
