Landslide suspends train service on Naples-Salerno line

Railway traffic on the conventional Naples-Salerno line via Cava de’ Tirreni has been suspended between Nocera Inferiore and Salerno. The disruption was caused by a landslide triggered by bad weather in the Vietri sul Mare area.

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) and Trenitalia reported that regional trains are facing limitations, route changes, or cancellations. To maintain connections between the affected locations, a replacement bus service has been activated, though travel times may vary depending on road traffic conditions.

Local activist Emiddio Ventre has raised questions regarding the visibility of the landslide, noting that aerial footage of the line from Vietri to Salerno appears clear of debris and that no technical crews or geological experts were immediately visible at the tracks.
