Landslide traps 30 people in Grecia gastronomic market

A landslide in the Bolívar sector of Grecia, Alajuela, has left approximately 30 people trapped inside the Los Bambúes gastronomic market. The incident, reported on the afternoon of Saturday, October 10, occurred when mud, rocks, trees, and debris collapsed from a mountainside, completely blocking the establishment's main entrance and exit.

Emergency responders from the Costa Rican Red Cross and the Fire Department (including units from Grecia and Sarchí) are on-site managing the situation. While the Red Cross has confirmed that no individuals are buried under the debris, the volume of accumulated material prevents customers and staff from leaving the property.

Rescue teams have deployed basic and advanced support units, as well as rescue teams, to evaluate the terrain and establish a safe evacuation route. Heavy machinery is being coordinated to clear the blockage. No injuries have been reported at this time, and the operation is being conducted with extreme caution.
