Landslides cause road closures on SP67 and SP5 in Italy

Severe weather and landslides have caused road closures in several Italian regions. In Pagnona, the SP67 road between the Premana junction and the town was closed due to fallen trees and debris. Rock climbers and provincial workers have since secured the slope and cleared the roadway, with local officials stating that reopening is imminent.

In the Veddasca area, a landslide occurred overnight on the SP5 between Cadero and Graglio. Approximately 50 cubic meters of trees, vegetation, and debris blocked the road. Emergency services, including the Carabinieri and Firefighters, responded to the scene. The road is expected to remain closed for at least the day while technicians from the Province of Varese assess the stability of the slope. Drivers are advised to use the SP5 branch, also known as the panoramic road, as an alternative route.
